This blog will help with DIY scrap paper storage to organize your scrap pieces of paper or vinyl. You will find a few different options, so no matter what stage of scrap paper collecting 😉 you are at, hopefully, you will find a system that works for you. Create storage for as many colors or patterns as you would like. This tutorial will demonstrate how I created my scrap paper storage, at different times of my crafting, with SVG box templates, scrap cardboard from cereal boxes (frozen pizza boxes, mac and cheese boxes, any cardboard box that will accept adhesive), glue and paper.

DIY Scrap Paper Storage For The Beginner Crafter
- Grab an empty drawer or large empty box.
- Measure the length and width INSIDE the drawer or box.
- Measure the depth INSIDE the drawer or box.
- Decide if you want all the boxes to be the same size and then divide the width and length by the size box you chose.
That will tell you how many boxes you need to cut. - If you have a gap along the edges, you can use that to store longer scrap pieces or you can add cardboard in between your boxes to create a snugger fit.

- Decide if you would like to divide your scrap paper by color, patterns, holidays or all of the above.

Scrap Paper Storage For The Crafter Who Likes To Keep It ALL
If you have scrap paper of all different sizes, but you want to keep them all together, you might like the combination option.
- Determine the largest size you will keep as a “scrap.”
- Pictured below is our Magazine Style Holder for 8.5×11 paper.
- Beside it is a 8x1x5 SVG Box Base, used in the above demonstration. I fill it with smaller scraps, and then I place it inside of the Magazine Style Box.

- If I have scraps smaller than about 2 inches, I will keep them in a small envelope tucked inside of the 8x1x5 box. (I keep glitter cardstock, sticker paper, shiny cardstock or patterns I can’t find again in small pieces to use for embellishments.)
